The recovery experience
29 questions in this section
A 3D scan maps shape and posture on every visit. Physical AI adapts pressure and focus in real time. Then remembers the member for next time, so recovery fits a little better every session.
Self is a robotic recovery bed: therapist-grade percussion on a six-axis arm, guided by software that reads the body in 3D and adapts every session. Members lie down fully clothed, set intensity and focus, and the system runs autonomously. Your staff do not operate it during sessions.
Intensity is fully adjustable, from a gentle release to deep percussion, and can be changed mid-session from the handset or app. Built-in force limiting keeps pressure within safe, comfortable bounds. Members can pause or stop at any time.
No. Sessions are fully clothes-on and private, no therapist in the room. Most people are in and out in fifteen minutes.
Most members can use Self for everyday recovery, from gym-goers to desk-heavy days. Use is for adults aged 18 and over. If you are pregnant, have a medical condition, or use an implanted device, see our FAQs on pregnancy, medical conditions, and contraindications on the FAQ page before your first session.
Each session uses a fresh disposable face cover on the face rest. Members wipe high-touch surfaces after use. The bed top, hand controller, percussion endpiece, and Self touch screen. The same routine as other gym equipment. Many clubs also provide a towel on the bed for comfort.
A massage chair runs one fixed program for one assumed body shape. The same rollers, the same spots, whether you are tall or short, tight in the shoulders or lower back. Self scans your body in 3D every visit and places percussion exactly where you need it, adapting pressure and focus in real time. A six-axis arm reaches areas a chair cannot, under the shoulder blade, precise lumbar work, side-lying positions, and remembers you next time. It is personalised recovery on demand, not a pre-set track. Read more about the experience.
A session is 15 minutes on average, clothes-on, fully guided. Operators may leave a short turnover gap between sessions so the next person can start fresh.
No. you can walk in whenever the room is open. The Self app lets you check in, manage your membership, and optionally reserve a time if you prefer. Booking is a convenience, not a requirement.
Every session adapts to the member: intensity, speed, and target areas can be changed mid-session from the touchscreen or remote. Self handles check-in and body mapping autonomously. Walk in, lie down, recover. Full onboarding automation expected early 2027 (indicative).
Yes. Each visit builds a live 3D model and updates the member profile, so focus areas and intensity evolve with training load, desk days, or injury recovery. No staff or therapist required.
Self is CE marked for public use, built on a human-safe collaborative robotic arm with multiple independent safety layers. Members stay in control and can pause or stop instantly.
Percussion therapy has a strong clinical evidence base, Self builds on that foundation with precision placement and real-time adaptation. In the field, we have delivered 10000+ sessions with a 4.7/5 average rating, backed by 19 clinical studies on percussion and recovery. Members report tangible relief; operators see repeat usage. Read more about the experience.
Self uses the same clinical-grade percussion as a skilled therapist. But a hand-held device depends on human placement and pressure, which drift with angle, fatigue, and guesswork. Self's edge is precision: a 3D scan maps where to work, and a six-axis arm holds that location to the millimetre for the full session. Pressure is the bigger difference, force stays exactly on target, with built-in limiting so it never spikes or drifts off the spot. Clothes-on, private, walk-in, no rota. For injury assessment or assisted stretch, a human still has a role, Self delivers the repeatable, millimetre-accurate percussion members want day to day.
Red light, cryotherapy, compression boots, and hyperbaric oxygen each target one mechanism, and most need staff, appointments, and significant space or capex to run well. Self focuses on what members feel immediately: therapist-grade percussion, placed precisely to their body, in a 15-minute, clothes-on session they can walk into without booking. It complements other modalities rather than replacing a full recovery lounge. But on ~4 m² it delivers personal, repeatable muscle recovery with none of the staffing or multi-room overhead of a staffed wellness clinic.
Walk in when the room is open, fully clothed, no booking required. Check in on the Self touch screen or app, lie down, and the system builds a 3D map of your body and guides a 15-minute session from there. You set intensity and focus; the robot handles the rest. Most people are in and out in under twenty minutes.
A focused pulse, like a strong, rhythmic tap that loosens muscle without kneading or stroking. Intensity runs from a gentle release to deep percussion; you control it from the handset or screen and can dial back any time. Built-in force limiting keeps pressure within comfortable bounds.
There is no fixed rule, many members use Self after training for recovery, or on rest days and desk-heavy days. Some use it before a session as a light warm-up, but deep percussion can leave muscles relaxed, post-workout is the most common pattern on the floor.
Full-body flows plus targeted programs for lower back, neck and shoulders, glutes, and legs (quads, hamstrings, calves). Pick your focus at the start or change it mid-session, Self places percussion where your body needs it, not a fixed track.
Self delivers clinical-grade percussion with robotic placement and pressure control, no angle drift, no tired arms, no guessing where to hold the device. A home device is great for spot work you do yourself; Self is for precise, full-session recovery you walk into on the floor, clothes-on, with a profile that improves every visit.
Same goal, relaxed muscles and relief. But a different experience. Self is percussion, not Swedish or deep-tissue hands; fully clothed and private, no therapist in the room, 15 minutes on demand. It complements hands-on bodywork; it does not replicate every technique a human can offer.
Both. Before can work as a light warm-up; after is what most members prefer, percussion relaxes muscle, and going deep right before an intense session can leave you feeling too loose. Post-workout recovery is the usual choice on the floor.
Your scan and session history exist only to personalise your recovery, stored on EU servers, never sold or shared. You can request deletion of your account and data through your venue or Self at any time. Operators see aggregate utilisation, not individual health records.
No. Self is for members aged 18 and over. Sessions are designed for adult recovery needs; clubs do not offer use for under-18s.
No. we advise against use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Percussion and pressure on the back and torso are not appropriate in those stages. Ask your doctor about other recovery options.
If you have any underlying condition or concern, consult your doctor first, as with any recovery treatment. Self may not be suitable with an active pacemaker or implanted device, recent surgery, acute injury, or other conditions where percussion is contraindicated. See our full contraindications list, or ask your clinician before your first session.
Do not use Self if you are under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding, or have an active pacemaker or electronic implant. We also advise against use with recent surgery, acute injury, open wounds on the treatment area, severe osteoporosis, blood clots, or uncontrolled heart conditions, and when your doctor has told you to avoid percussion or deep tissue work. If any of these apply, consult your clinician before your first session.
Yes. Use the Self app to check in, pick your focus, and adjust intensity, or use the touchscreen or hand controller on the unit. You can pause or stop at any time from any of them.
Wear comfortable clothes, sessions are fully clothed, no changing required. Tie back long hair if it falls onto your neck or shoulders. Check in on the Self touch screen or app, lie down when prompted, and the system builds your 3D body map from there. No special apparel, oils, or undressing.

Space, install & support
24 questions in this section
About 4 m² (roughly 1.53 × 2.1 m) and a standard 230V power socket. Hardwired ethernet is preferred for connectivity; we can extend your venue Wi-Fi as a fallback when a cable run is not practical, see network requirements. The unit is freestanding, no floor bolting (~80 kg installed), no construction required. It works on the open floor, in a semi-private alcove, or in a dedicated room — placement is entirely your call. It fits standard doors and lifts (575 mm transport height). We handle delivery, installation, and staff training; on-site setup typically takes a few days per unit.
A unit has an upper planning ceiling of around 1,400 sessions a month, roughly 40–50 a day if you ran three sessions per hour across a full 15–16 hour opening day, with no gaps between users. That level of utilisation is rare in practice: turnover, walk-ups, cancellations, and quiet periods all reduce daily throughput. We size with you using realistic occupancy, not theoretical maximums, and add units when sustained demand warrants it.
Yes. Self runs autonomously whenever your club or venue is open, no therapist rota required. You set the hours; the system delivers the same quality hour after hour.
Yes. Onboarding and a launch kit so your team can orient members and keep the room ready. Members check in and run sessions autonomously, no operator needed during sessions.
We supply disposable face covers at roughly €0.16 each, with lower pricing on bulk orders, fitted fresh on the face rest every session. Between users, wipe the high-touch surfaces: the bed top, hand controller, percussion endpiece, and Self touch screen. Most clubs treat the bed like any other piece of gym equipment; many venues also lay a towel on the bed for comfort and an extra layer. No special cleaning products required.
Yes. Self can be moved within your site or to a new location, contact us and we will coordinate relocation and recommissioning.
A 12-month warranty from installation, 98% platform uptime per unit per month, a 2-hour initial response and a 4-hour non-hardware resolution target (in practice, response is typically under 10 minutes, resolution avg under 30 minutes, non-contractual). Support runs weekdays 09:00–20:00 and weekends 10:00–17:00, via email, phone and WhatsApp.
Self is live in the United Kingdom and Switzerland. European Union (from 2027) launch is planned, pilot and production fleet reservations are open for 2027 fleet: territories reserving now. Get in touch to bring Self to your city.
The 2026 fleet is sold out. 2027 reservations are open, allow ~1.5 months from 2027 production once production starts. On-site setup typically takes a few days per unit.
Yes. Member data is stored and processed on EU servers, fully GDPR compliant. Body-scan data is used only to personalise sessions and is never sold or shared. A Data Processing Agreement is available on request.
About 4 m² and a standard power socket, no construction or dedicated build-out. A spare room, wellness space or quiet corner is enough.
Routine maintenance, software updates, and hardware inspections are included in your care plan, Standard Care or Premium Care depending on your agreement. Your team handles day-to-day cleaning between sessions; we handle everything under the hood.
Self is CE marked for public use and built on a human-safe collaborative arm with force limiting, members stay in control and can pause or stop instantly. As the venue operator, you run Self under your existing club or employer liability and public-liability cover, as with any on-site amenity. We provide CE documentation and safety materials for your insurer and legal review. Contact us if you need a risk pack for your broker.
Self's Connected Platform includes member booking, check-in, payments and the app, enough to run standalone from day one. Many operators start there and layer their club pricing on top. If you want sessions inside an existing stack, contact us to discuss your setup. We will tell you what is available today for your market.
Units are remotely monitored around the clock. Our SLA targets a 2-hour initial response and 4-hour non-hardware resolution; support runs weekdays 09:00–20:00 and weekends 10:00–17:00. Most issues are fixed remotely. Premium Care adds priority response, preventive visits and on-site labor and travel when a physical fix is needed. We work with you to minimise downtime, contact us to align expectations for your sites.
Employees book and check in via the Self app, walk-in or optional reservation when the room is open. You choose the commercial model: fully subsidised, partially subsidised or employee-paid. Personal scan and session data is used only to personalise sessions and is never sold or shared. Aggregate utilisation reporting is available so you can prove the perk is used, without exposing individual health data.
Self is designed for a 7–10-year asset life. Consumable modules, percussion device, covers, hand controller, can be swapped in minutes; wear-and-tear is covered under Premium Care. Software and safety updates continue throughout the unit's life.
Comparable to a premium percussion massage device (~52–66 dB depending on speed), Theragun PRO G5 class. Fine in a wellness room or quiet corner. The V2 percussion module (from 2027) targets roughly half the perceived noise (~10 dB lower). Existing units can upgrade for around €1,500 all-inclusive, indicative, subject to design confirmation.
Very little beyond your care plan. Power draw is under 0.5 kW, about 8 kWh per 16-hour operating day (~£50/month electricity at typical UK rates). No plumbing, ventilation, or consumables beyond routine module swaps covered by your care tier.
When sustained demand pushes a unit toward high realistic utilisation, busy hours with wait times or constant turnover. One unit covers a lot of floor; add a second when members are regularly queuing or your member base has outgrown practical capacity. Contact us to size your sites.
Launch kit and room guidance are included, signage, member comms, and how to present the Self space. The robot ships with Self branding; we do not white-label the hardware, but the recovery room is yours to name and integrate with your club or venue identity.
Member-facing screens and the app are available in English, German, Italian, French, Danish, Swedish, Spanish, Norwegian.
Hardwired ethernet is preferred. A dedicated cable to the unit gives the most reliable connection for remote monitoring, software updates, and the Connected Platform. If a cable run is not practical, we can extend your venue Wi-Fi to the unit as a fallback. We review connectivity during site survey and include what is needed in the install plan.
Entirely your call. We've deployed all three across pilot clubs. Fully exposed on the gym floor drives the most walk-by interest and awareness, though pack conversion tends to be lower. A dedicated room typically converts better into packs and sessions, but you'll need to market it more actively so members know it's there. Semi-private — screened off on the floor or in a partially enclosed alcove — has been our sweet spot for balancing visibility and conversion. We help you think through your floor plan during onboarding.
Distributors & partners
6 questions in this section
Yes. We partner with distributors who own exclusive territories and place Self with premium venues. See the distributor programme or apply to partner.
Yes. We grant protected territories so you can develop your region without internal competition. Exact boundaries are agreed on your strategy call, based on market size and your plan.
Distributor pricing, sales training, launch playbooks, a full marketing kit, and end-to-end servicing, installation, software updates, remote monitoring and 24/7 technical support. We keep units running so you focus on relationships.
Apply with your territory, venue pipeline and network. About two minutes, no decks required. We review for strategic fit and come back quickly. If we are aligned, we confirm your strategy call and agree territory, economics and launch plan. If it is not a match, we tell you straight. Apply here.
Two layers: placement margin on each lease or sale you close at distributor terms versus MSRP, and recurring revenue from service renewals and upsells as venues keep each unit running month after month. Placement is earned once per unit; the recurring share builds while the unit stays live. Exact margins and revenue share are agreed individually on your strategy call, illustrative models are on the distributor page.
We prioritise partners with a strong network in premium venues, fitness, hospitality, offices or similar, and the capacity to place and support units in an exclusive territory. You do not need financials in the first application; we review market fit, venue pipeline and investment capacity, then agree terms on a strategy call if we are aligned. First production fleets ship with 2027, applying now secures territory priority. Apply here.
